Who are Local Doctors?

Local Doctors is part of New Zealand’s largest independent primary healthcare network, Tamaki Health. Started by Doctor Kantilal and Ranjna Patel at one small clinic in East Tamaki in 1975, the network is now providing healthcare to communities all across New Zealand, at over 50 Local Doctors and partner or affiliate clinics.

To this day, we stand by our original core value, which is to provide high-quality low-cost healthcare to Kiwi communities, ensuring affordable, equal access for everyone who needs it. We are continually innovating to build new ways to achieve this, and offering new services that make healthcare more accessible, more affordable and more effective. Things like bringing mental health services into primary care clinics, ensuring accessible locations with easy referral to other treatments and services, and innovating with online healthcare to provide access from anywhere.

As well as Local Doctors, the Tamaki Health network includes the White Cross urgent and accident care network, Bettr online doctors, and a number of independent clinics too.

Our dedicated team of over 1,000 people includes a wonderfully diverse team of doctors, nurses, clinic teams and operational support functions who all play a crucial role in helping the over 4,000 patients we see every day.
